Hole in the heart
Hole in the look..
Hole in the holy soul
Hole in the divine book..
focus-straight ahead
Fairy tales do come true
It can happen to you
I'm a T.V. star
Though it's hard
You will find
If you're narrow of mind
To be a T.V. star
Now here is the best part
I've got a head start
With my imagination
I'm a T.V. star
(With thanks to Frank Sinatra)
(poem by Therese L. Broderick of Albany, NY, USA)
THE SMOKE
....is unspoken,
mutely at war
with two tobacco ghosts who
curl around the box
ear of a prison guard,
(who will hear
the pyre outside?)
reclusive,
remembering,
in reruns, slow drags,
those men and women
he silenced in
their cells, laid to
sleep, sleep
on ashy sheets
I hope the guys don't see me fixing my hair like this.
There goes the guard, the clicking locks.
I feel so safe, inside my box.
I hate this place, it's such a drag
At least I'm glad to have a fag
Some days I laugh, some days I weep
For now I think I'll go to sleep.
Fascinating photo and another exceptional poem by Therese L. Broderick.
