...strength embraces souls
carrying scarred crosses;
myself - my true love...

.....and as she wept she held herself together tightly. For if she let go surely the world would be drowned in her sorrow and the rampaging heart that beat so fiercely inside her breast would fly right out and wreak havoc upon the space between them.

OOOh, Michelle...very nice and very touching.
I'm gonna change gears and go with my usual corny humor...

GIANT SPUDS

Holding my knees, is what I feel
Most think this photo shows.

What actually I'm holding is,
Two very large potatoes.

(poem by Therese L. Broderick of Albany, NY, USA. This poem is autobiographically accurate. I have my daughter's consent to post this poem.)

FLINCHING

At sixteen, she expects me to ask
permission before I hug her,
to seek a dispensation
for every kiss. Tender to me
in every way except for this one
curfue of a mother's touch. And so
this morning as she kneels
on the bathroom tiles, weak
from a sudden upset stomach,
I wait until she nods OK
to my request to press
my hand upon her forehead,
rub her back and shoulders--
my way of showing a daughter
how to recover from those spells
when a body flinches and rebels.

Knee weren't made to be hidden. Looking at her knees makes me want to paint something on them, I don't know maybe a face or two.

Have a great evening Nancy.

Oh but I'm going to give myself a good hug today! This is such a beautiful and very moving piece by Tiffany! So true. If you are not taking care of you and loving you nobody else will! This is powerfully moving and beautiful. Something to really thing about!

Your quotes are perfect.

I have one that I have always loved too.

'There are many paths to the same God.'

Love you. Renee

Ode to My Body
Although you're always with me,
I haven't always known you.
There are certain parts about you
That I know I'll never see.

And while I'll always have you
(and, in fact, can't live without you)
It gives me cause to worry that
You won't always have me.

Today I'm going to hug you
Just to let you know you're needed
Even though you're oft mistreated
Without you there is no me.
