Compelling as a dream or immersion into the unknown. Disturbing as an accident or homicide.

FOGGY...SON OF MOODY RIVER

They call me Moody River,
I'm sure you know my name,
Pat Boone once sang about me,
And that's my claim to fame

It was way back in the Sixties,
That a poor misguided lass,
Took her life in my dark waters,
In me she breathed her last.

I have a little tributary,
Foggy is his title.
The photo plainly shows,
That his evils aren't idle

Another lover's lost her life,
Surrendering her dream
Alas, like Old Man River,
Flows his wicked little stream

...it is the mist
in her eyes as they tear,
it is the mist
in her throat as she chokes,
it is the mist
in her hands as they close,
it is the mist
in her hair as it falls,
it is the mist
in her heart as it ceases to beat;
it is the mist
over a lake silent and still,
in all shades of water blue
it creeps and it crawls
notching trees
with the fingernails
of those it has delivered
from this world's color.

(poem by Therese L. Broderick of Albany, NY, USA)

MAGNETIC PLAYSET

A lake and forest as background
for the magnetic Princess Stella
whom the girl at play moves around,
placing Stella first atop the trees
as though a songbird, then
atop the water as though a pink
mermaid, then peeling the princess
completely off the scene,
laying her on the kitchen table
where she cannot stick or cling,
next to storybooks piled there,
unalterable texts on pages
which have taught the girl how to
take away a sister's secret power,
leave her with unhappy endings.

Beautiful lake and foggy forest. It looks misterious with a natural beauty. Great photograph.

Sarah-Paige, so good to see you again, and though I'll miss those cool shoes, your new profile picture is beautiful:)

Anna lay naked in the river and thrilled at its cool embrace. She knew the water like a lover and held nothing back. As she released her tears and confessions, she imagined – no, she believed – that the water carried away her sins. Given everything, that raised a troubling question. Would she be empty like the pile of clothes that lay on the river’s bank?

The soul of the river
is a woman sleeping
oh gentle waves
her hair fanning
out holding the minnows
safe swimming please
forgive me
for walking into the water
forgive me this moment
when I pull at her
so slow and try to find
what was left from summer
this light is hard for me
this rising she does off the water
let me float float
float away.
