Paolo's paintings always have a community narrative to them that speaks of the small pleasures in life; the things often overlooked but remembered when life needs some stability.

I'LL DRINK NO WINE BEFORE ITS TIME
....IT'S TIME!!!

Getting home a little late tonight,
Well, actually, it's morning.
I spent the night our drinking wine,
And now the sun is dawning.

I had some Port and Burgundy,
A little Claret, too.
Some Champagne and some Merlot,
And something colored blue.

My head is aching badly,
Feels like I hit a brick,
My speech is slurred and blurry,
And my tongue feels 3 feet thick.

I learned my lesson, that's for sure,
I'll never drink no more..
But I need to drink a little less,
Maybe stop at three or four or...

Oooh I love this painting and love a sip or two of wine from time to time. I'd love to be walking on that (or what looks like) cobblestone and just looking at the apartments. Oh how fun that would be. Thx for sharing.

TOO MUCH WINE

would you ever trust a woman
who had never finished one glass of wine
too many, had never said something
over a Merlot or Chardonnay
that she forever after wished she hadn't
probably of course the truth about herself
would you believe me if i said
i was that woman still am how could you
if you can't trust me and yet once
i had one too many (catholic) college beers
which in my case i confess meant only two
that was years ago when i was twenty
then you would have heard me
say something i shouldn't have
how i really felt about you
except that you weren't there nobody
else was i was alone in a dorm room
but really that's not true, alone i mean,
there always was and is one too many
two three four too many of me
hangin out at the pub listen i give them
all the extra bottles you can trust them
what do they say about me

Thank you for Stephen, Gloria, Mr. Cuban, and Therese for sharing your writing and comments.

Yes, James, it's TIME for some wine!

And, Lorenzo, all this time and all I had to do was post about wine to get you to comment;)

Wonderful painting... Paulo's work is so evocative, he must be tapping into something just below the surface in our collective subconscious. Haven't we all been there at one time? Including the Vinho a Mais...?
