One of my older poems fills the bill as regards being aimed at children and the planet!

See Stripe drink.
Drink, Stripe, drink!
See Stripe drink from the big water hole.
See Stripe drink from the little water hole.
Oh, no! There is no more water hole. The animals drank all of the water.
What will Stripe drink now?
Judging by the size of things, I'd say the elephant should win this upcoming bout for water.
The band of friends was tired after their long walk. They were so thirsty. But they let Naya drink first because she was the youngest. They did not know if they would find water again.
'At that point, when we reached the river, I said to John, 'Look!'. The spectacle that revealed itself to our eyes was one of infinite beauty.'
Greetings from London.
After the long journey the boy and wise elephant found the waterhole.
"See here" said wise elephant, "We animals come from all walks of life, are different shapes and sizes, yet we share in the simplest pleasures." "I see that," whispered the boy. Slowly, wise elephant approached the water hole, he drank a bit and splashed the other animals.
"No need to bully or take more than you need," wise elephant said. "Compassion for others will save your soul and the earth."
The boy nodded.
If anything, we ALL have one or two things in common and that is hunger and thirst. No one can take that away from us.
Have a great Sunday Nancy.
It would be so grand if the human universe could stand beside each other, peacefully, accept our differences and share the same water hole.

Amen, Tweedles
OUR GIFT, PARADISE.
OUR THANKS, WASTELAND
I'm Clyde the elephant,
My home's the Serengetti
I've been checking things out...
It don't look very pretty.
They've been cutting down the trees
Now the clouds aren't bringing rain
What was once a gorgeous jungle
Is now bare and ugly plain
The birds are getting scarce,
Cause the poachers trap the chicks,
And the frogs have started croaking
Some new virus's made em sick
My best pal, Rudy Rhino
Is in the grassland in the sky
Some fools cut Rudy's horn off,
He suffered...then he died
That high-rise blocks the wind,
That used to keep us cool.
Now the condos down the road.
Stole our water for swimming pools
You humans think you're special,
Yet you've laid the world to waste,
Your duty was to care for Earth.
But you've raped her in disgrace.
"what happened to the water.." ..*drinks*
