GROOM ZOOM
I'm here to tell a story,
It's one you may find sad.
In the painting is my mother,
On the wall hangs deadbeat dad.
My parents hadn't married,
By the time that I was four,
That also marked my age,
When "Dear Dad" went out the door.
If he'd only sneaked away,
It wouldn't be so bad,
But he left her at the altar,
And it simply drove her mad.
It's been over 20 years now,
Since that SOB has split,
But each day she puts her gown on,
And comes in here to sit.
He's gotten filthy rich,
Is what the papers say,
He'd like to come to see us,
Read his message yesterday.
"Let's let by-gones be by-gones,
And forget about the past!"
But his visit may be painful,
With my foot stuck up his...
Investment portfolio?
Great photo. Instead of gray and black and the artist's mother, it's the bride probably wed to a wealthy husband (hence green and black) whose financial dominance draws the same sort of narcissistic devotion that Whistler’s painting stood for regarding motherhood………at least that’s my view, anyway.
So this was my wedding day
I waited and I waited
He didn't come
I sit to ponder
What do I do next?
Nancy, have a great weekend.
They say that when a marriage is wonderful, one looks for another when it ends. She agrees!
'I promise, this is the last time he lets me down. Eight times already, eight times, but I'm telling you James, this is the last time!'
Greetings from London.
