I might walk through that door; it seems to promise something pleasant behind it. It it were grey or black, though..... I think I'd stay away.

But then some things are dressed to entice, and you step forward and through, and you are done.

I stepped into the darkness, unsure of what I would find. I held my breath, listened and waited. There was nothing, no sound, light or life present. There was, however a dreadful smell, the smell of death and decay.
Slowly I turned and left, back through the wooden doors, I had my answer.

IS A DOOR A DUNG CAN?

My neighbors keep complaining,
'Bout the colors of my door.
They say it's ugly..gaudy,
A completely shameful eyesore

So maybe red and yellow,
Might be a tad extreme,
With purple, green and orange,
To complete the color scheme.

But I don't let it bother me,
I take it all in stride,
And say "They ain't seen nothing"
"Come take a look inside!"

A portal draws me
forward leading me slowly
through to things unknown.

A known door... you know what to expect inside.
An unknown door... makes you feel anxious or afraid or excited...
A mental door...you can close it or open it as you like...

I love old doors...mysterious...

Tweedles -- that's me said...

The doors were left wide open,
rats ran out the door,
I did not want to enter.
I walked away and did not look back.

Nancy,
Thank you for posting my art.
I appreciate it and sometimes we all have to open the door even though we are afraid of what is on the other side.. every door that is opened there is a new journey..

My pleasure, Katelen:)

I agree. Every door presents a new opportunity. What a great thing that can be!

If you look closely at the floor, it looks like an adult is holding a child's hand. In my imagination, a mother is bringing her child to her first day of kindergarten.

The mother reassures her child, "I'm sure you'll have a colorful time here, learn a lot and make a lot of new friends."
