Haiku
Instruments sparkled
Marchers stepped high on mainstreet
Music inspired me.
The little girl who waves her flag could wave it night and day.
The little boy who blows his horn can blow us all away
The cymbal-crashing youngster will keep bashing till he's numb
And the bass-drum-beating sailor lass will march to her own drum
Alone, they're independent, and they sing out good and strong,
But when they join together they add power to their song.
CARPE DIEM
This world can often take us,
Places we don't want to go,
With its pressures and its problems.
Sometimes it's rough...I know.
But slow down just a little,
And take a look around you,
The simple joys and wonders,
Will amaze you and astound you.
The birds are singing happily,
From their perches in the trees,
As the wind provides the melody,
On a cool, refreshing breeze.
The flowers smile with blooming,
As hummingbird's delight.
Flitting, sipping nectar,
Oh what a wondrous sight.
"Be Free! Embrace the Day!!"
Says my humble little voice,
But the words are oh, so mindful,
"Live! Enjoy! and Rejoice!!!

I just read this today and thought it was appropriate for your prompt.
"We have often taken for granted the blessings and choices we've been given each day.People gave their lives for our freedom, yet complacency has become our way."
For the sake of these children, we need to let freedom ring!!
