It is my time. Time to pick my feet off the ground lift my wings and fly. I am so thankful I am not afraid of heights.

Tweedles -- that's me said...

I am grown now.
My challenge has called my name.
I will be srong and fearless,
as I spread my wings.
I will lead my flock
through the storms that come.
I am fearless.
When you look to the stormy sky
you will see me.
You will hear my call echo above the wind.
I am fearless.
This is my calling.

We geese...
... are masters of reproduction

Our young...
... get the finest in flight instruction

We're mad...
... at humans causing wetland reduction

Revenge...
... is ours at migratory induction

We are...
... airborne weapons of grass destruction

(I can't take credit for that pun...)

That big blue thing,
Way up there.
I raise my wing,
up again.
And with one breath,
I take a leap.
And to avoid the trees,
flap those wings.
Up to the big blue sky,
I fly.
Oh, now tell me why,
do we, fall?

All the way back down,
to earth...

story i have always marveled at the bird and his natural ability to take to flight with such ease and seemingly little thought. or better but just natural flow, i myself want to find the same ease in doing what i am "born to do" as well!!!

I agree that an image can be a great spur, particularly when there is some ambiguity for the imagination to work on - as there mostly is in the case of your pictures.

GOING SOUTH

The days are getting shorter,
And the temperatures are dropping,
The other geese are gaggling,
Soon things will be a-poppin'

The time has come this year,
To take off and fly South,
Along established flyways,
Our migratory route.

Soon we'll spread our wings,
And take off to the sky,
The upper winds and currents,
Will help us as we fly.

The trip is so exciting,
My heart just pounds and thumps,
And that may be the reason why,
I'm getting all these goosebumps.
